EXPLORE THE MONTEMURO SERRA

The eighth highest elevation in Portugal

The Montemuro mountain range is the eighth highest elevation in Portugal, with 1382 meters of altitude, reached at Pico do Talegre (M9). The plateau is very extensive, and constitutes one of the most beautiful humanized landscapes of Portugal, with marshes, natural forests and pastures, forming an intricate mosaic delimited by walls (M10 – Gralheira, M11 – Planalto do Balsemão and M14 – Moura Morta). The waterfalls are beautiful and numerous, like Cascatas da Tojosa (M6) and Cascata da Pombeira (M13). The granite here takes capricious forms being quickly baptized with popular names, such as the Pedra furada de Faifa (M8) or the Pedra Posta (M4 – São Pedro do Campo).
