Line B – Bestança

The Bestança river rips up the Montemuro mountain range, south-north direction, taking advantage of a fault to work out an embedded valley of great beauty (B7 – Vale de Fractura do Bestança). Here we can find monoliths (B5 – Fragas de Penavilheira), cascades (B4 – Cascata da Ribeira de Tendais) and man-made structures (B3 – Ponte de Covelas and B6 – Eiras da Lage), in an unparalleled harmony sprinkled with leafy oak forests, from the top of the Montemuro mountain right to where the Bestança river dies flows in to the Douro. The waterways, present throughout the valley giving force to mills’ casters, and irrigating water fed lands, are a must visit for anyone who wants to contemplate nature by the sound of murmuring water.
