The Paiva river is reputed as one of the best preserved in Europe and trouts abound in its waters. The largest line of the RAP® has an endless number of attractions: vertiginous cascades in the tributaries of the Paiva river (P4 – Cascata das Golas and P7 – Cascata das Aguieiras), old forests (P2 – Adernal da Retorta), small paradisiac rivers (P3 – Poço Negro, P11 – Foz Cabril, P12 – Nodar, P14 – Ponte de Cabaços and P17 – Praia fluvial de Folgosa), amazing monuments (P15 – Ermida do Paiva). But the 480 million years fossils are the most surprising on this line, with the fossil trilobite tracks (P8 – Icnofósseis de Cabanas, P10 – Icnofósseis de Pereiró) and the Giant Trilobites of Canelas (P6), considered the largest trilobites around the world.
